Anne Zilard

Dedicated to Anne's
memory
Anne Zilard was born in Budapest
Hungary - her family fled Hungary in 1956 when she was still a young child. Her
family spent four years in refugee camps as displaced people until finally
Australia accepted them.
An has rare qualifications for producing creative photographs. An was selected
from thousands of artists and photographers around the globe to capture on
camera the faces of the world's political leaders during the historic 'handover'
of Hong Kong. The Pacific Rim Forum acknowledged as the regions most important
non- aligned platform for the commercial political and opinion leaders of the
Asia/Pacific region -chose Zilard because of her skills and talents in seizing
an emotional moment and translating into a work of art.
Anne was educated in Vienna, Sydney and Adelaide and attended Adelaide University.
Her career path changed in 1982 when required to complete one unit of any art
subject, An chose photography. During the course a colleague accidentally spilt
purple paint on Zilard's photographic print of a young girl. As Zilard pushed
the paint around the image with her finger, Anne observed a complete
transformation. She varied the paint thicknesses across the photograph, creating
a three dimensional effect, a distinguishing feature of a technique she later
patented.
Within two years, age forty Zilard had resigned from her position to concentrate
on photography. In 1986 awarded Australian Federal Government Grant to study art
and photography in Europe, Britain and USA. An is the first person to receive
such an award while still a student at University studying creative photography.
She travelled extensively for 3 years. This was a great success led to An being
appointed by corporate clients to create art which could be used for promotions,
advertising or for personal use - and also to enhance office and home walls.
Her style is unique combining art, photography and paint in a technique she
pioneered and which she has copy written worldwide. Anne's art has been
described as a cross between Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso winning her
international critical acclaim.
Corporate commissions include: John Newcombe, Australian Davis Cup Captain,
Bob Mansfield Chief Executive of Fairfax Holdings, Lee Casey Chairman of AAP
Information Services Pty Ltd, Peter Ritchie, Board on Olympic Stadium for
Olympics 2000 and on the Board on Westpac Banking Corporation.
Charlie Bell Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of McDonald's Asia
Pacific. Ric Birch Director of Ceremonies for Olympics 2000 Sydney, Australia.
Anne won the highly competitive New York International Photographic Horizons
Competition against 350,000 entries from around the world. Zilard has won a gold
and seven silver awards from the National Australian Institute of Professional
Photographers and the National Australian Prize for Photography.
